Consciously or subconsciously, every church holds to certain core values. The unconscious values are the ones that strongly influence outward behavior even though they are not consciously thought out and defined. The consciously chosen values are those that are weighed carefully and acted upon intentionally.
A ministry based on clearly articulated core values drives a fixed stake in the ground and says to all, “This is what we stand for. This is what we are all about. This is who we are. This is what we can do for you.” Thus, values are defining. They give each church its unique identity.
