THE SURPLUS LEADER

in General,Leadership

My concern is not the devil, the darkness of culture, the pressures of life and ministry. My concern is the emptiness of my spirit, my lack of virtue, my lack of overflow, my lack of surplus. If I can lead myself, I can lead a church.

Surplus is a kingdom principle. It is the principle of having more than is required or needed, more than just what is sufficient, more than you expected.

Minister from your surplus - what is overflowing!

It is to have over and above, spilling over the top and in excess. You are to minister out of your surplus, not out of lack.

Here are some characteristics of surplus people.

1. Surplus people press in.

Like the woman with an issue of blood who pressed through the crowd to touch Jesus’ garment, we must press into God’s presence if we are to receive surplus from Him. In His presence, we gain the authority to break the power of spiritual bondage. We receive patience and wisdom to help the brokenhearted. We get a fresh touch from the Holy Spirit to exercise the authority of Christ and build His church.

Press in a little closer during worship, during your personal devotions, and in your prayer times. Get your fill of the Holy Spirit so that you are ministering out of His strength, not yours.

2. Surplus people have stretchability.

Leaders must be stretched with a passion for the fullness of the Holy Spirit to fill me, expand my soul, enlarge my heart, extend my reach, and to flow into me and through me like a mighty river.

The anointing is divine enablement that goes beyond your own capacity, beyond your own strength, and beyond your own vision for the future. You will get to that amazing future only as you allow the Holy Spirit to stretch you so that He can pour more surplus into you.

3. Surplus people have surplus anointing.

As a leader, you are called and anointed to lead whatever position where you are placed. Make this your declaration: “I will receive an abundant overflow of the anointing by the Holy Spirit flowing into and through me. I will be filled with all that Jesus is, all that God does and all that Jesus wants. I will have a surplus anointing to extend the Kingdom of God.”

You are anointed. Your cup does run over. Minister from that place of surplus and you will be effective and not grow weary where you are planted.

This is great, thanks for a great reminder to be authentic and have an overflow from personal relationship to ministry. I will be sharing this with the team!
